Is Enlisted really free?
Yes. The download is free on every platform it is available on, and all four nations, their research trees and every mode are reachable without spending. Money buys Gold (the premium currency), premium squads, a premium account that raises earning rates, and cosmetics.
Is it pay to win?
This is a judgement call and we will not pretend otherwise. No content is unreachable by playing, and matchmaking weighs the equipment players bring, which pushes against simply buying an advantage. On the other hand, paying does buy time, and premium squads are real equipment rather than skins. Whether that crosses your personal line is genuinely up to you.
Am I fighting bots?
No. Every squad on the field is commanded by a human player; the AI soldiers are that player's squadmates. You are fighting people who each control a squad, just as you do.
Does it have cross-play?
Yes, across PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and one account carries your progress between platforms.
Who makes it?
Darkflow Software develops it and Gaijin Entertainment publishes it, on Gaijin's Dagor Engine. Gaijin is best known for War Thunder.
Is it on Steam?
Yes. The Steam release went out in March 2024 as Enlisted: Reinforced, was pulled within about a day because of backend problems at launch, and relaunched in July 2024 as simply Enlisted with account linking fixed. It has been available since.
What happened to the campaigns?
They were merged. Enlisted originally shipped with separate campaigns — Moscow, Normandy, Tunisia, Berlin, the Far Eastern Front — each with its own progression. A major update consolidated them into four national trees (USA, Germany, USSR, Japan), combined players' existing progress per country, and replaced the various order currencies with a single currency, Silver.
What age rating does it have?
PEGI 16 in Europe for strong violence, ESRB Mature 17+ in North America for intense violence, blood and gore. The developer's terms state the online service is not provided to users under 16. There is open player communication, which no rating covers. Confirm on your own regional store listing, which is the binding one.
What are the PC system requirements?
We are not publishing a figure, on purpose. The requirements have been revised more than once and the only trustworthy version is the one on the current store page for the build you are about to install. Check the Steam listing.
How long does it take to unlock everything?
We do not know, and neither does anyone who gives you a confident number. Progression rates are the most frequently rebalanced part of the game, so any hour count would be stale by the time you read it.
Is it good?
Critical reception has been mixed rather than uniformly positive: reviewers have praised the visuals and level design and criticised matchmaking, animation and progression. Our own view is on the main guide, framed as who it suits rather than as a score. We publish no star ratings of our own.
Do you take money to say nice things about it?
